Capt. Danny and Mudbug

Mudbug Charters is named after Capt. Danny's dog, Mudbug.  Mudbug started coming on the boat at 3 months of age and it was soon discovered that he had a knack for sight-fishing redfish.  So much so that it wasn't long before he was jumping off the boat and stalking tailing redfish on his own!

Capt. Danny Carrier is a native of the lowcountry, having grown up in the Golden Isles of Georgia.  After fishing the Charleston region for over a decade, primarily with a fly rod, he and his wife Charlotte decided to settle on Johns Island permanently (with Mudbug of course).

Having worked in the fishing tackle and outdoor industries for over a decade, Danny has had the unique opportunity to fish all over the world. Despite how much fun he's had traveling, targeting tailing redfish on fly in the lowcountry remains his favorite fishing challenge.

Currently holding an OUPV Near Coastal license from the Coast Guard, Danny is licensed to take passengers 100 miles offshore. He is working on upgrading to a 25 Ton Masters license as well!

Sea Hunt BX22BR

The Ride

Aptly named the "Miss Mudbug", our 22.5' Sea Hunt was built here in South Carolina to be the most versatile and comfortable vessel made to handle all of the wonderful opportunities the lowcountry provides. Not only is she full of creature comforts, like dedicated seating for 5, a T-top for shade and misters to keep you cool, she is built with performance in mind with the ability to safely go offshore to fish reefs while maintaining shallow water capability for inshore fishing. If you just want to go shark's teeth hunting or have a private afternoon at the beach, she's equipped with a swim ladder, a bluetooth 6-speaker sound system and tons of storage for your beach toys!

What Should I Bring?

  • It's recommended that you bring rain gear, sunscreen, comfortable non-marking shoes, beverages and snacks. Please avoid aerosol sunscreens as they discolor the boat and make the deck very slippery.

Is There a Bathroom?

  • We are a small boat with no bathroom. We'll do our best to find a secluded spot or take you to a nearby marina when available

Where do we meet you?

  • We almost always leave out of Wappoo Cut Boat Landing on Tranquil Dr. under the drawbridge on Folly Rd. between West Ashley and James Island. Depending on conditions, we may depart from nearby ramps including Limehouse Landing or Sol Legare Landing.
